what is madness? and how do we know what madness is? this master thesis written by Anna-Helena Klumpen deals with these questions. the theoretical and visual concept is based on the conclusion, that each word is followed by an echo. this suggests that the words are spoken in a quiet, large and empty space, a hall. From the perspective of the listener, however, the echo enhances the sense of space and distance. echoes are spatial perceptions. The quiet hall of the psychiatric hospital represents a »hifi« soundscape, allowing discrete sounds to be heard from a great distance.
